Is online BLS certification legitimate?

Currently, the AHA does not accredit, approve, nor endorse any fully online BLS or CPR certification or renewal course, so the answer is normally no. The AHA requires an in-person, hands-on- skills assessment as a part of their certification program, and that is not possible online. Due to COVID19 the AHA has adjusted these guidelines temporarily, and as long as the fully online BLS certification course observes the same standards as cited above. It would only be legitimate to issue an AHA BLS Provider eCard, if the all online course is instructor-led and students have use of the same equipment and materials as in the classroom.
